I am being a bum right now. I am having a hard time in that I hate being away from family and everyone when it comes holiday time. Even such a simple one as Fourth of July because it's a really fun holiday. The first year wasn't so bad but this year it has seemed harder. I miss not being able to run in the freedom run down the parade route and then watch the parade after, and then possibly going on the boat with my sister and her husband. Lastly Sometimes our family would go to Stadium of Fire which as cheesy as it sometimes usually is it was really really fun. I think a lot of people take that stuff for granted. I am working this year..which I am grateful I have a job I know it could be worse blah blah blah but still I am kind of bummed. I could care less about the money because that doesn't create a memory and it's just me and Paul down here...I don't mean that badly but it would just be nice to be with some family is. So I am being a downer face right now.


I haven't been feeling very well this week..there's a cough chest congestion thing going around and of course I like to catch everything so I did. I went to the doctor's last night and it was NIGHTMARE.. I swear all of San Diego was there and the doctor was an hour behind...nice. I finally got some good drug stuff..but in the midst of just having a whatever attitude I went to Wendy's and got their spicy chicken sandwhich and a side salad..trying to be healthy...and then topped it off with their Nestle Tollhouse frosty...YUMMERS!!! then later ate some peanut butter m&m's. Yup I am awesome.

Last night there was a REALLY pretty sunset, it was fun to sit outside on our porch and just watch it!

Godfrey's makeover.

So Godfrey was feeling a little down so we decided to give him a makeover. My personal favorite is the belly shirt for him to show off his tight abs, work it G! (thats what I tell him!)


Here is a close up of his upper half..yes Paul found his old Bob Dole halloween mask and put it on him...(CREEPY!) and yes this is a spongebob stuffed toy sittin on his shoulder..Paul calls it his silly conscious.

Lastly he is working this seasons latest fasion in shoes..the fireman boots. I tell ya Godfrey is starting trends everywhere it's crazy!

On Wednesday Paul starts his job (hooray!) we are not sure what his schedule will be like yet so since today could potentially be our last day off together (other than Sunday) We had some fun. I let him enjoy his second to last day of sleeping in while I went for my routine bike ride and run. Then we went and got these awesome fish tacos for .99 at this whole in the mall mexican food place..oh it was so yummers!! Then we went to a fish store to look at what we want to do with our new 45 gallon fish tank Paul got off craigs list for free. Lastly we went and saw Angels and Demons, I really really liked it. Now we are home goofing around..making some homemade guacamole and eating doughnuts...nice I know but hey whatever!

Pooped.

So yesterday wrapped up this very fun, eventful and a little exhausted week. Last night we had our friend Bruce (and a bunch of other friends) over for a farewell dinner before he leaves for the MTC on Wednesday. I made on behalf of Bruce's request, a homemade chicken pot pie and chicken enchiladas with white green chile sauce YUMMERS! I am sad I didn't get any pictures but they both were really yummy. Everyone else brought sides and our friend Deborah brought a yummy cookies and cream cake. It was a really fun night of food and mario kart! We will miss Bruce he is definitely a delight. After much excitement and fun this week I am a little pooped!

So this week has been pretty fun! With Paul's cousins here and playing with us, then yesterday our friends Kelsey and Taylor (the friends wedding we went to in Utah) anyways they went on a cruise and their boat came into the port here in San Diego. They wanted to take us to dinner last night as a thank you for getting them a great room in Park City for their first night of being married. So Cheesecake Factory we went!! Hmm the cheesecake I had was so good, it was the chocolate black tie mousse and it was heavenly! Anyways tonight we are having friends over for dinner (our friend is leaving on his mission so we are having a going away dinner) Its been a busy but fun week!

Free food, Fun, Family.

So Paul's Aunt, Uncle and cousins are down here this weekend staying at a beach house up in Carlsbad. We went to dinner with them at Ruby's in Oceanside. When we got there Paul and his uncle were wearing the same shirt so we had way too much fun with with the jokes and pictures.

Yesterday we met them at the beach house they are staying at..It's really nice.

We went to dinner at Pei Wei which was yum and then we came back for brownies and ice cream and watched a movie and played games. Its been fun having them here.

Last part of Utah trip.

So on Sunday we went down to my sisters to see her and my parents for Father's day. Then we drove back up to Paul's parents to have a birthday/father's day dinner for Paul's dad. I basaically just slept the whole day too because I was very tired...It was fun to just relax with everyone. I came home Monday and there went another trip.

This was after I ran my first leg..it was really really warm but I felt great about the run. I ran 5.1 miles in 39 min. I was really really happy about it. I have been training hard, like blood sweat and tears to do speed workouts to improve my time and it has paid off.

Megan and Marrissa were twins on our team, they were so funny. They would wait on a corner with a super soaker and a spray bottle to spray people running up Snow Basin, they were very grateful!

The course was so pretty..I am so glad I did it and was able to see so much beauty in Utah that I haven't seen before.

This was my last leg of the race...I couldn't decide if I wanted to take it easy because I had ran really hard my first two legs...but then I found out that Natalie's brother's team was like right on our tail (we were being competitive) and I also realized I needed to finish strong so I gave it my all. I ran 4.8 miles in 33 min. I was very proud but sooooooooooo done. My thighs were burning and so mad at me!

Our team mate Natalie=awesome. She did the part of the race known as the ragnar. It's the hardest part of the race. 4 miles that gain 1600 feet..crazy! and it was raining on the dirt road she didn't walk once...not once! Natalie=touch Mcgruff!

After 31 hours of no sleep (seriously we didn't have time to sleep)..running 14 miles and only eating 2 powerbars, 4 bananas, 2 peanut butter sandwhiches, a chicken sandwhich with fries, and oreos and chocolate covered pretzels....stinking like all 9 porta potties I had been in and out of...life was great! :-) The blessed smell in our car was awesome..the wet wipe shower just wasn't cutting it anymore. I was very happy with how I had run on all of my legs though and would gladly love to do it again.

Utah trip.

So the Utah trip came and went and of course did not disappoint as far as fun and being way too crazy. This post will be a little out of order but I am doing a whole seperate post for the Wasatch Back. So here's how a typical crazy Utah trip goes. I flew in Thursday late afternoon..hurry and drove up to Park City to check out a room for our friends Taylor and Kelsey that got married..got the keys to their room and decorated it! :-) drove back down to Bountiful for the reception, then saw my best friend Caroline for her birthday..had to finish packing up last minute stuff for the Wasatch back and went to bed.

I'coming!!

I am coming up to Utah tomorrow and I am definitely ready. We have been doing a whole bunch of crazy things at work that have been time crunching and a little stressing which has made me already feel ready for a vacation again. I am excited to come up to do the Wasatch back..I talked with one of the girls on my team the other night for like an hour just thinking of things we will do in the mean time to make it fun...I so badly wish I could bring Godfrey up to hang out in the van with us..or strap him to the top of the car, I think that would be hilarious!


I went for a swim yesterday with my new swim cap!! I love it. The kids at the pool kept pointing and saying woah shark!! ha ha it made me giggle. And I do have to give a huge THANKS to my friend Amanda for telling me to get ear plugs to help me not feel dizzy after swimming. Apparently the water getting in the ears messes with the equilibrium and yeah it would make me feel so dizzy during the swim and I would feel like I was going to pass out when coming out of the swim, but yesterday's swim I felt great after..so Thanks Amanda!

Anyways I am excited for Utah and my race..I am gonna win first place..and you have an ugly face!! (what movie)

Hair help!

So......... while in Utah I want to get my hair colored..because it will be cheaper. Where should I go.. That won't suck me dry of my hard earned pennies but also won't do a crap dye job on my hair?

Fries, a broke window, and a broken hand.

Well well well..here's how it goes. We were at our friends apartment complex and I was heading home and Paul walked me to the car (I parked my car in the Del Taco parking lot because honestly we all know how ridiculous trying to find parking at apartment complexes is. Anyways so after Paul and I said our goodbye's Paul got in his car to pick up cliff waiting on the sidewalk..I guess after he got fries from Del Taco he started walking back to his place because he didn't know how long we were going to be talking..so as Paul got near Cliff I guess some punk guys that came out of no where were trying to start something with Cliff and tried to punch him. Cliff ducked but then hurried and jumped in the car with Paul..well then I guess another guy spit on the forerunner and then decided to punch out our back window...nice. Paul is hoping his hand got broken. So while they called the cops, Cliff secretly followed the guy home (across the street) and found out where he lived. They told the police what the guy looked like and where he lived and did the report. Paul is pressing charges so we can get the window fixed. Well as they were out there with the police...Cliff eating his fries..ha ha random. Some other people came across the street to find out what was going on..apparently these guys have done junk like this before, one girl said they tried to pull a knife on their 60 year old dad? what the? So now Paul can't ever take his car over there..in fear that they will destroy it, nor do I think he should really go over there and Cliff is gonna have to watch his back while living there...such craziness.

That 70's show..

I feel as though our life has become an episode of "That 70's show". This was a golden find (excuse the joke) of Paul's. He went and got this couch he found on craigslist..and guess how much it was? free ninety nine. Seriously its actually a pretty sweet couch. I will have to post the pic of it in our living room. Its really long and quite comfy. I have come to discover that some of that stuff made in the olden days are a lot more durable and enjoyable. Anyways now our t.v. room is filled with couches. The best part of this couch is you turn the cushion around and on the backside it has prints..aww so many options!!

Paul also got a 60 gallon fish tank with the filter and everything for free on craigslist. He is on a craigslist kick...but the weirdest thing he found..well that will be the next post, just wait!

Partnership for an idiot free America.

So Paul told me a pretty funny story today. He was in the Target parking lot and watched two younger girls in their car pulling out. Their car was too close to the car next to them so while trying to pull out first sort of pulled off their bumper and then was scratching the car they were rubbing up against. So they then pulled back into their spot. Paul said they then kind of looked around..sat there for a minute and then pulled out again and drove away. Oh too bad Paul wrote down there license plate number. He then took it into the security people in the target store and got it reported to the police. He then was driving home and just happened to drive by an auto zone and saw the same girls and their car getting the bumper fixed. He pulled over and was "walking by them" and was like aww did you guys get in an accident? and they were like yeah it stinks..and then Paul goes was it over at Target? and the girls get a confused looked on their face and were like yeah..I guess so. He then goes on to say..well it got reported to the cops, so...well have a good day! I couldn't help but bust up laughing and so wish I could have been there to see their faces! Priceless..and hopefully will teach a lesson for people to not do that!

MMmm so last night for dinner I made crab calzones..or mini crab cakes if you will. Served with rice and squash and they were super yummers!



This was my proudest invention. I was feeling creative and decided to make a brownie mix..pour it into the bottoms of the cupcake pans., then spooned on top of that a dollop of Nutella, then topped it off with a square of the pre-made chocolate chip cookies. WOW chocolate heaven. I am trying to find a dessert to make for Paul's dad when we come up to Utah for his birthday dessert...and I think I found it! :-)

Take me out to the ballgame!

Yes we forgot the camera but this gives you a good chance to use your imagination. For date night last night Paul took me to the Padres game. It was great because Paul's roomate he lived with before we got married works at Padres stadium so we got great seats for free!! :-) Bonus 2: The guy I bike with works for Ace Parking so he put our name on the list and we got a FREE parking spot right across the street from the stadium..you can't beat that! Lastly they had a promo going on called the 5 for $5. You got a hot dog, popcorn, peanuts, soda, and a cookie..and for food in a ball park that is a great deal. The thing that made me more excited was that I had an option to get the smart veggie dog and it came on a wheat bun. I know I may seem so weird but I couldn't stomach a normal hot dog, the veggie dog was good!

After the game they had fireworks and they were great, it was really a great date night!
